I find "the winners" icon the worst. They look like gravestone, but the rest is pretty neat.

The voting one could be an urn.

I feel really uncomfortable trying to change such a graphic pillar of pixeljoint...
Anyway... here you have my suggestions (and take them as I defined them: suggestions)..

A quick try (wip) with the medals/awards/ribbons...

Just some doodles, more to give other people ideas than as finished pieces.

Thought it could help, though!

its me or the zoom function still blurs the images?

What do you guys think of this idea for the Winners Icons?:

I know it's really big, but I can adjust that.

@Metaru: Yeah zoom doesn't work for me on these forums, but it works for me on the main site...

Alright, right now this is what I've got for all three. The last one especially is kind of rushed. But I have no more time today. I'll work on it more in the days to come.

Here's a try of my own...

I've edited the first post for clarity. Many people seem to be thinking that we want the badges remade too. Just the challenge icons.

Ive done the voting ones.

I decided to use the bar on the right.
But now I don't know which one of these two I keep.

Finished The winners one.

There is 3 things that I don't know if it's good:
The font, the color scheme of the BG on the winers one, and if I put scanlines on the first or remove them on the last.

I like Elementy's idea the best.

Each a different colour,

Each decorated with only white,

Each instantly recognisable for what it is.

Elementy, there are some things to address, though, if you don't mind me pointing out:
A fiery, tornado ribbon for the background of the challenge one fits, and scan-lines seems to suggest a futuristic digital voting machine, so I would say that the third could be a radial burst to suggest the fireworks of winning.

I would also like the third one to only be green and white, if possible, perhaps showing the silhouette of the winner's ribbons (with drop shadow). Can the drop shadows in all three read as the same darkness? (voting one is much lighter than "vs")

If you keep a sort of "universal contestant" figure, please make the form less blobby.

And is there a way to make the blue one say "vote" and the green one say "win"? (just an idea that I am not very sure of, but since I really like the "vs" I thought I'd throw it out there)

the writing is hard though to read.

Had about 10 minutes before i had to go to the movies and decided to try this out.....



Just the basics of how it will look...but idk im digging Korcha's and DawnBringer's lol both look nice and easy to understand.

Manjaman those are looking great so far.

@Hiuru, good ideas and very clean. The color purple may just be too dark for it to read cleanly...

...oh, and its not isometric   ...

Jal : thanks a lot ! About the second hand, I made it green because, ya, as you said it most of people voting receive a green award, then because i wanted it to be the same color than the green cross and finally because like that each icone has it's own dominant shade.
You think the red bands don't shade enough in the bg ?

edit : I knew something was wrong i inversed yellow and red in the third icone

The reason for putting challenge on the icons is just because the weekly posts don't ever say that on the title. Its not a 'must' Calv and Manja's way is acceptable too and just something I/we didn't think about when writing the thread. We actually want to encourage everyone to come up with new and original ways to illustrate these weekly icons, whatever that may be.
