Message

   CHALLENGE: Electric Still Life
Create a still life which  includes devices that run on electricity. This may include (but not  limited to):

radios

light bulbs

smoke alarms

electric toothbrushes

Van de Graaff generators
Here is an example of the idea from Cure.

Canvas size - Exactly 150 x 200. Either horizontal or vertical.

Colours -  Max 12.

Transparency - No.

Animation - No.
CHALLENGE RULES
Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
Only new pixels allowed.
Open to all members.
Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.
CHALLENGE JUDGING
Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES
Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
No matter what happens you get challenged :)

	Does that 12 colours mean that I can use 12 different colors, but all their hues? Or does a hue count as color?

	the color count means 12 specific colors. For example, if you're working in RGB then R123, G45, B67 is one color, and R223, G15, B67 is a second color. The relation between the colors, like if they're all shades of blue, doesn't matter. Any change in a color, like making it a little lighter or adding a little more green, adds a new color to the palette. Edited by tanuki - 28 February 2011 at 1:18pm

	my wip and first work on pj (and internet). it's a chess battle tesla-edison with the obvious winner :P OOPS!I'm realising I commit a mistake! Tesla is in check for that damn bulb!! 	Here's the 12 color palette I'm using- It's a greatly reduced and modified palette from this one drawing I saved to my computer years ago. I don't remember what site it was from, but the original drawing has at least 256 colors. I changed at least 5-6, maybe 7, of those colors above so it also makes a nice, though not super smooth, greyscale ramp. Of course, if it's a bad thing to use any colors that are identical to a color from someone else then I could just adjust the rest of them too. 	Yeah i know there's a lot of banding but i can't seem to fix it xD If someone would be happy to help, i'll appreciate it :) Anywayz, i'm done! I'll probably think of something later on the week so won't submit yet. I'll be using the wide pixels one for the challenge.

	I ain't good at this pixel art thing, but I'm doing it like this... palette is on right side :D There's a lamp, tv, laptop and a little generator :D

	If you're good at sketching with a pencil, first try to make a sketch of the same scene in a different perspective.

	This is my first submission. I'm new to pixel art so thought I would give it a try with this contest. Let me know whatcha think. BTW:Im traveling internationally right now so I made this In a few quick hours before I lose the internet. This is as finished as time allowed. 11 colors used pallet in the apple.

	@Muirled, Very pretty scene set up and good pixelling, however the lightning really lets it down, you should make use of the lighting to dramaticise it, and it needs to blend into the piece more - it's all coming from behind the tower, looks a bit scribbled on over an otherwise excellent piece. Maybe use different colors for it. The shape is odd too, electricity doesn't fan out when jumping between things, not inteded negatively, just some constructive crit I hope can help

	wtf! it apears now.. ?? something is wrong with my internet I think is too slow lately. Cilein: Thanks for your crit and feel free to keep it coming (if not bothers you) as it helps me to improve. Totally agree with the lighting stuff. I may add some more colors even if some part in me dont want to :) Also real lightings have a lot more branches,but due to the space-pixels I don't know how to fix it.. 	hi guys again. here it is. probably ended, but i'm seeing more and more details. at the end i added the 12 colors. the major problem i'm having now is the lighting capturing too much eye atention, so i added reflexes and a purple on top below to make the eyes pass by the different pieces. do you think is working? and got any crit?

	@Muiriled Definite improvement, the electricity blends much better, Chrispy is right though, this is unlikely to count as still life - best get that confirmed with a mod

It looks really good :) specially the lightning/electricity effect, but i must agree with the fact that it doesn't quite look like a still life. Still, kudos to you!

	Wellp the link to the wiki says 'mostly inanimate subject matter' and i've seen some still life (even there) that looks like in motion. plus i can't get any response from the administrator (guess they're busy) so i just submit it like that. I guess they'll kick it out if they need to. Thanks for all your comments and crits!
