I have found much consternation trying to avoid banding on the  sprite's left shoulder pad and left boot. Is there a solution to this or is that ammount of it acceptable?

definitely a lot of banding..

on a brighter background the edges look very jaggy.. maybe use an outline around it

the sprite itself is quite nice but the many colors make it look very blurry
maybe u should try more of a cell shading style

heres my try on it

its only 9 colors instead of 63

it looks a bit comic-ish now but if u want to go for a more realistic look u can add more details and aa by adding some more colors

hhmm.. I like it Onek! but I should have mentioned the color count is temporarily high to keep things separate so I can later go through and palette it.  You should see the ugly 'working colors' one heh; or not. It needs to be in this style since I've already made one complete sprite sheet for this up and coming on-line FFT clone called Tethical.. here's a screenie of the other sprite in a beta map.. 3d by my friend Kivutar- a great programer and textures by me. Lijj.. Maybe I just have to change the design a lil to get out of the 45 degree corner I feel I'm in? Does any one know a good technique that could shade these two pieces right in the shape they are in now?

Well hell, I'll figure it out one way or another; I guess just working and re-working the pixels until it looks right is the solution for now. Until I learn
