Greetings,
I'm making a mockup just for kicks.
I have doubts about the lake and the palette, which is using 15 colors at the moment, which of these versions look best ? What should I fix ?

Oh, I'm new here, btw :)

That red moon trumps visual priority, making it darker/less contrasty will fix that.

This looks very good my friend.

Some tips that might make your piece better..I'll stick with the first mockup.

I think the colors on the right side are best. Also, I feel that the characters kind of blend in with the background. It would look good if it was made to be a static image, but I think in a video game the moving parts need to be readily identifiable as separate from the background.

The water does look nice, but I think the perspective of it is off. It looks simpler without the water. And like the other posters, I also agree the moon takes too much visual priority. It's also really huge, it appears to be more of a sun, yet it is night time. Maybe this can be helped by reducing the canvas size in half.

Your second mockup seems to be a much better canvas size. Also, cut down on the dithering.

Just my two cents.

I like the moon, and make it more dull then it is not necessary (the bloody moon, let it be bloody)
You can solve the problem of accents partially close the clouds.
And indeed give the general tone of the characters of bodies brighter than the background image

Impressed by your work. Nothing that really needs to be improved in my book.

I only don't understand those pillars at the bottom.

Magic pillars and blood moon for the Netherworld !
I imagined a lone knight venturing the realms of night eternal. The moon, which is not a moon, is the "Eye of Darkness".

Hmm perhaps it would look better if I made it look more like an eclipse...
