Hi all. first time poster, long time lurker here.
I'm currently working on my first pixel art project: The infamous kitchen scene from the film Jurassic Park. I'd love for some feedback about the general composition and perspective before diving into the coloring. ![]() Currently i've only blocked out the different elements for composition purposes, I expect the color pallet to change drastically. Any words of advice at this early stage would really help me, thank you. P.S A big thank you to all you artists that frequent this website, it's been a big inspiration. |

Ha, give me a couple of decades and i'll have it done!
Thanks, this was inspired by the work of Mark Englert, his art style is very pixel art friendly. I am just worried about spending a huge amount of time on this only to discover there is a huge fundamental problem with it somewhere. ![]() |

I don't see nothing strange. It's too early...
I suggest you to do the kitchen in a different level, so that you just need to move the little reptiles :D |

*Update*
Details have been added and i'd love some feedback about a couple of things (or anything for that matter). The color palette - is it ok? first thoughts? and the use of reflections on the kitchen equipment - dose it work? is it clear what it's supposed to be? Thanks for your time. :) ![]() |

specifically on the kitchen equipment or everything?
on the kitchen equipment i was trying to find a way to reduce the reflectivity of the surfaces. I'll post a version without it for comparison. |

I see...
Its a bit distracting because the scene is small but, perhaps because the Raptors are not yet in they also stand out so much. I must say I liked all the shiny and polished look of the previous version Where the dithering served more as a texture in select areas. ![]() |

Im not espcially attached to the dithering, if it's not working, im happy for it to go. here they are side by side.

Its your call because its not that its terrible.
Imo, its just coming across as texture on the left side. The ceiling lights is great and the glass wall on the right works with the dithering but the previous subdued colors worked better for the glass wall. I also think this palette update or coloring is maybe to bright where that previous platte )including the yellow) had the right amount of light to show it all but dramatizes the door light just as the movie scene did. |

I understand what your'e saying, and agree somewhat. I think i might be trying to add too much detail for such a small canvas size. luckily it's not too muc trouble to add the changes you recommended. Things do look less cluttered now, and the raptors stand out a lot better.

Thank you, but i really can't take credit for it. I had some help using photoshop to dither it properly. here's the final image and a loop of the process.
Thank's so much for all the advice! ![]() . ![]() |
