Greetings, awesome pixel people!

I've been working on a game since august 2018, and it's finally time to gather some playtesting feedback!

My goal is to bring upon you one of the most creative games you've ever seen. I feel like creative freedom has lost a lot of space in the gaming industry these days, and I couldn't just stand idle. Creativity is the soul of any great game.

The game gets weirder and weirder as you play it, so stick around!

Let's get to it! What is the game about?

Story

Accompany Bowie in his journey as he seeks his life long ambition: the golden bow...! Uuh, the thing is, the golden bow doesn't actually exist. But shh.., Bowie can't know that! This belief was born by misunderstanding old tales his dad used to tell him. In reality, such tales were about a golden bowl... disappointing, right?!

Play and watch how events unfold as the world and its characters conspire against the truth in order to mislead Bowie even further in this comic platformer.

Hardcore gameplay

You'll die. A lot. Until you get good. Then you'll die, but not a lot (lies, I still die a lot and I'm the dev). Challenge your skills! Practice makes perfect! You'll learn that putting time and effort into something always pays off.

"But what if I'm a casual?" Not a problem, the easy mode is there to your aid(it's still kinda hard, though)!

Featuring unique enemies

Every enemy is different. You'll have to use your brain and skills to defeat them! Learn how to defeat them, or die trying. Most enemies are also designed with humour in mind, so that you'll also laugh as you die.

Eveything is designed with humour in mind

Poop as much as you want in the game's unique checkpoint: a potty pot! Traps & enemies are not boring either, and you'll find yourself smiling in the midst of chaos and danger!

Themed worlds

Each world will have its own theme. And they're not your common themes 'wind, fire, ice, earth themes', nope. The mental world will mess with your head and trick you in more ways than you can imagine. The night world will use the community's biggest fears against them! The ignorance world will bring critiques and social thoughts we all have, but are too afraid to speak out. That's not all! 9 worlds total, but no more spoilers!

Watch the Trailer (a bit outdated) here.

About me and the project

I got into the pixel art universe because of the game. And that's the best thing the game brought me so far, pixel art is such an unique, beautiful, profound style! I'm still a new artist (I learned how to make all this, from art to code starting august 2018) but I put a lot of passion into it! I hope you'll enjoy everything, from art to gameplay!

People playing the game and giving me feedback is my biggest source of happiness amongst the chaos that my life currently is. I hope you'll have a good time and forget a little bit about all the problems that life throws down upon us while playing!

Well, what are you waiting for? Mount your boar and go get the game!

Hey, so I downloaded and played your game for about 20 minutes I'd say.

Story/Lore: The story was horrible, it felt like I was on a meme site, some of the pixels were a bit inappropriate. If that is the audience you're going for then that is fine, but if you want your game taken seriously, I'd say develop a more mature story because your game does have potential.

Key Bindings: When I got up to the gameplay. I hated the keyboard bindings so much, they were so spaced apart and awkward to press. If you're creating a hardcore game you should have good default key mappings otherwise people are just going to get frustrated and quit before giving your game a chance.

Camera: Camera, hated it. It doesn't not follow the character smoothly I hate how the camera jerks itself when you change direction.

Gameplay: Gameplay was frustrating, the tutorial level was horrible. I felt like I couldn't do anything right. You should gradually ease the player into the game, not throw them into the deep end. Honestly the tutorial was so frustrating for me that I never gotten further than that. I understand that you are making a "hardcore" game, but the tutorial is meant to be a place to become familiar with the game. Not piss off everybody who tries to play your game.

Visual: The speech bubbles in your game are horrible, you need to change them. They changed sizes and were a little unbearable.

Responsiveness: Also I noticed I couldn't skip some story scenes, that annoyed me that I was forced to sit there and watch your animated scenes. Always give the player the control over their computer, don't force them to do things they don't want to do. In my case I was forced to watch an animation that wasn't interesting to me and was wasting my time.

Level Design: I only played the tutorial level, but the level design in that was terrible so I am only going to assume that your level designing in general is terrible.

Music: I honestly don't think I heard anything, and if I did I've completely forgotten about it by the time I started writing this post.

A little background about myself, I have over 300 games. I've played and enjoyed 'hardcore' genre games such as dark souls and wizardry. I have a degree in computer programming and in art.

I am not trying to personally attack you in any way shape or form, this is purely a critique on your game, and what my experience was like. I have a lot of respect for you for creating this. I do see potential in it but you really have a lot of work to do and things to change in this game if you actually want to charge people money to play it.

kind regards,
