Here's my first attempt at a walk cycle.
Its 4 frames (frames 2+4 are the same).

It looks a little strange and there's obviously room for improvement.... any tips?

Don't move his head and shoulders as much and let his right leg go in front sometimes.

RPG is numberwang.

I removed the head movement and changed the feet slightly.

Better?

It's better, maybe add a head bob and as I said before, be sure to have both legs come to the front in turns so it looks more realistic and less like skipping.

Try again. He isn't really walking the way he should be.

I think it's good, but it seems as if he has no left arm, or a stub just sticking out... lol.

I think the arms are the problem now. To stop him from looking like he's skipping i would slow it down and not make him take such long strides.

What is up with his arms in general? His arm that's showing is having a seizure. It should be back when the leg of the opposite side is extending and it should be going forward as the opposite leg is going back.

when the furthest leg goes behind it should be dark and the closest light. i am getting the impression thats his legs are spinning round his body.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Version 4 -

I think this looks alot better.

I've made the frame rate longer
I've reduced some of the distance between strides
I've tried to make the arm movement better
I've cut a few frames out (Now down to 6)

Comments? Suggestions?

Much better. His hidden arm now looks a tad limp, however (like a camp man..). I shouldnt be afraid to have his hand swing out. Also, when you look closely, it still sort of looks like his legs are spinning, but i cant offer any advice on how to fix that.

I had a go at trying to make make that left arm longer but it just looks weird...

Hmm, he needs a hand at the end of the arm ;] and when i walk my lower arm and hand swings out before my shoulder and upper arm.

This looks better... more natural.
Theres still alot of room for improvement though

Do you think the arm is swinging too far forward, Maybe it should be lower?

Maybe tone it down 1 px. I'm really amazed how far this has come. Keep up the good work!

Edit: typo

On one frame, the far leg is the bright blue and the near one dark blue, and it meses up the perspective.

I think the hop up helped it, the side movement didnt. Now you've taken them both out. I think he should still hop up and down as he walks, and he seems a bit slow now.

<- the up and down movement of that, and at the same speed, i think.

Well I got to go out now, so this is my last one for a few hours.

I tried to add the bounce back in, but I've got about half the frames that I had before so it might look alittle odd.

Please comment on what you think needs improving.

even though this could be done better, it's really good for a first step into animation, because walk cycles are actually rather complex.

i would speed it up a bit though...
