er. post content.
WIP animation.

First time ever defining a lightsource. By that I mean the moon :p Last frame uses 14 colors. not sure if I'm done or not, so I figured I'd like to hear what you all have to say about it. I personally *love* the cliffside. I've never made a rocky texture that sex in my life. I think the grass is abit bland, but I don't know how to fix it up. anyways, comments, C+C

The only thing not shaded is the lightsource, of all things... The moon reflects the sun's light and if the sun's light is a dark gray to you, an appointment with the optometrist is in order.

updated. 15 colors now. I actually thought the pale blue looked more natural, but I never think about things like that.

I don't see any point for the clouds here. As its a study in light I would exxagerate the shadow on the tombstone/bottle. The waterhighlights in a more focused cone would read as nightlight even if unrealistic (sometimes we must play god)

What I was getting at about the moon is that it should have more luminescence.

my attempt to give it a more night-ish pallete, lost alot of detail and such, including the clouds [though I plan to add them back after I've got other stuff done.] Also the moon now looks as if it wants to kill you.

Much better, indeed. I think the moons expression is more subtle and calm than before. Perhaps have it facing slightly to the left though?

slightly to the left works, other misc. parts of the image have been redone as well. I"m starting to think no clouds at all, I think the sky looks more omnious while clear. I might want to get rid of a star or two though.

Setz, I would even remove five or six even more. Their white color is
also probably best with the muddy grey/purple in the moon, or the
purple in the water or that orangy/grey. There are also 5 stray green
pixels on the tombstone that look wrong even if they are supposed to
be moss.

EDIT: Did not notice before but the shadow should really slope in a
curve that matches the mound.

okay, less stars now, no moss on the grave, I tried to tilt the shadow some, I also tried to make the shine on the water blend abit better.

Its really good now. The shadow works much better, tho I might try a bit of dithering using the black on the tombstone. The clouds were never needed. For an even better composition the last thing I would do is move the moon down 4px and 2px to the left or extend the sky out 4px on the top, 2px to the right.

you know what this reminds me of? if you have ever played Chrono Trigger, when you pour the "pop" over that dude's grave by the sea shore. Haha, i remember that they censored bear in the american version by calling it "pop" or "soda". i was clearly a beer mug... Any way

Needs more stars, rocks are perfect, define some waves, and cliff shape looks wierd...
