It looks as if you might be helped here by converting this to a full 2:1 isometric perspective. So far, though, the lines look good except for a few jaggies and bad lines.

RPG is numberwang.

I also feel the 2:1 iso lines are needed here. You have a lot of it done in 2:1 already but other areas are not. (The fin and wheels)

Thanks... I know that the perspective isnt good, I will try to do it in isometric perspective, but i think the body of the car is OK...

My problem is that I dont know how to do an isometric wheel...
These in the picture I did by "try and fail method". I did a cross of two isometric lines and then I was trying to put the same pattern into each quadrant.

I used this one in the picture:

But now I see that it is a little bit long in the SW->NE direction...

nope - a circle keeps its shape in iso (at least a small 1 like this)

Thanks Ensellitis, but I was just wondering about the technique of converting cylinders into iso...

btw: Where could I find these Jalonso materials?

To 7sons: Circle have to be converted in any size to ellipse... especially if you want a cylinder. The ball is the thing which allways needs round circle. (I think)

Actually, Agent Smith, I think the circle you converted into iso is spot on.  Its important to note that the horizontal line in your circle SHOULD convert to a 2:1 pixel perspective while the vertical line stays the same, as you have done.

Unfortunately, theres no real set way to complete the curves that make up the circle.  I usually eyeball them into place, and as far as Im concerned, you did a good job yourself.  (the vertical edges near the ends of your horizontal line need refinement though.)

The cylinder is completed by attaching 2:1 pixel horizontal lines out away from the edges of your circle, then copying the forward edge of your circle onto the far ends of your new horizontal lines.

...  erm...  Hopefully that made sense. :(

the best way to make an iso circle that i have found is to start with an iso square

then draw the circle inside of it to help you keep the perspective correct.  the jalonso materials are just a collection of references i have collected over the years...  my private collection.

and correct, a ball keeps its shape, anything else round, does not.

I actually have a fresh off the press tire tutorial right here http://www.pixelsinprogress.com/tutorials/isometrictires

Hopefully thats some help to you. I use the square-to-circle technique as Ensellitis just pointed out.

Agent you did the correct thing in your example. Having omegavolt agree on this is proof enough. I have yet to check out Rodder's tutorial. I will reccomend it anyhow since he is an idol of mine.

ps. your method also works for cylinders and anything flat to iso. Just keep the 2:1 lines consistent.

I've just checked Rodder's tute, and its a good one.  Haha, and he agrees, theres no set rules to creating the circles curves, you just gotta eyeball it. :P
