This is funny. Couple of days ago I created 17 cols palette for Ludum Dare game (but 2 of them were very similar and one of this 2 was poorly used).
Not an entry, I doubt that pre-created palletes are allowed. Just want to share. And some art made by me and Dmitry Karimov (non pj-er). Edited by Finlal - 22 April 2015 at 10:14am

Never concidered that my palette could be gorgerous. Maybe I shoud participate with it (if you're not sarcastic). But it needs to be polished. I've never created palettes before. Any advices?

I'm not close to being experienced in colors, but you have a lot of blues, browns, and grays. I'd suggest replacing a few with some greens and purples. I love the mood of the palette though :D

Ahh, yes. I can do both this and the Earth Day challenge Which I can use 8 colors for. So I may just take what I have for that and add more intermediary colors. *EDIT* realized I forgot the word colors Edited by AlexAlexAlexAlexAlexAlex - 22 April 2015 at 1:24pm

Just the palette with HEX #s as shown on the template. Use the template. Don't worry we test to determine the winners.
Well balanced and harminc is the goal but that does not mean it has to include all color option. It may be monochromatic if you're feeling it. Edited by jalonso - 22 April 2015 at 3:02pm

They are all listed somewhere. I'm sure Gecimen has links to them all but you can search the forum for 'iso' and 'color comp' to find them all.

Argh. Everything I'm trying to do with this palette doesn't work.
Even the slightest change ruins everything, especially adding greens. Let's just say it's good as it is, for some purposes. In last challenge [thUg] made 10 palettes, so I guess I am allowed to do one more. Edited by Finlal - 22 April 2015 at 3:52pm

It's just that that palette is good as it is and I don't want to change it. I'll try to make next one more balanced in hue.

Both. Some things are done by hand, but mostly it's scripts. This is what the next version of the main analysis script produces right now (wip).
@Drazile: That's a pretty decent palette (note that the bg-color hasn't yet been omitted from the dithers and 12-bit diagram) Edited by DawnBringer - 23 April 2015 at 5:54am

Came up with something: You can obviously spot the problems in it - it needs a lot of refining (and it's missing 4 colours, which can be very useful later on).

Yeah... And this marks the first time I've attempted something like this.
I don't expect it to be any good though. After all, this is the first time I enter this sort of contest and I don't think I've got a good grasp at palettes like these yet. But I've still tried. The palette is untested too, but I want to test it out as soon as I can. Please do provide some good pointers, if possible. I did a bit of "mixing" prior to putting the colors into the template so I'd have an easier time picking the (hopefully) right colors, and as such I have my palette in another form.

I've built a universal palette and been using it for quite a while now (with some tweaking in between), for example in a couple of the @Pixel_Dailies challenges.
Here were my requirements:
In short, a very multifunctional palette for a console or PC, with two quirks (logocolors and skintones) that should allow even novice artists and newcomers to the 'platform' to create decent graphics. Anyway, this is the current latest incarnation: Yes, there's 000000 black in there. And FFFFFF white. Not using them is wasting the width your console/PC can output. If the user doesn't like it, they can easily tweak their contrast/brightness.

A trick for checking your palette's versatility is to recolour other people's work: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixels/new_icons.asp?search=&dimo=%3E%3D&dim=10&colorso=%3C%3D&colors=16&tran=&anim=&iso=&av=&owner=&d=&dosearch=1&ob=search&action=search

@Drazile: Yeah. Is there a problem with the download? If so you can try getting it Here from the old Google site:
I think it's just a zip-file that needs unpacking. I'd recommend you get the V2.4.2035 as the latest version 2082 has not been stable for me. @PixelSnader: There's 55 colors in that image... :/ Edited by DawnBringer - 24 April 2015 at 2:17am

@atp: looks nice, maybe missing a brighter tone? You prob know what you're doing though, just ignore me ;) @eggy: good start, needs tweaks. You have 3 groups of very similar colors in there that should be spread out, in hue and saturation. 3 greens: hue = 122/123; 3 reds: hue = 0/4 (that's pure red or close btw), 2 of them with the same sat; 4 blues: hue = 274/276/277, close sats by pairs, also the 2 purples hues are close to these, 270/267. Probably missing orange. @yall's: avoid colored backgrounds, they mess with color perception! Eggy's 4th color looks blue on the yellow bg (it is), yet with a sat of only 4, it's almost grey and looks like it on a neutral bg.
