| How about an action figure line? Everyone can make a custom action figure that deals with a category for each series? edit: heres what i'm talking 'bout.

I like your action figure project a lot.  Why don't you post a new thread with the two templates as separate files?

A treehouse.  It would be like Mr.Wongs Soup Department. It can be isometric or not.

What about a Mini Iso Continent/World? I know there have been plenty of
iso cities, but wouldn't an iso world be pretty cool too? I don't mean
huge iso work that people do, but small little submissions that are
very easy to come up with. For example, a house can be a single pixel.
This would be both newbie friendly and a very nice project at the end.

Dejital: a single pixel? Are you kidding me? Personally, I don't making something "easy" is the way to promote better art... especially with this site. I will ALWAYS choose quality over quantity... and that's something that alot of kids that join up here just don't quite get. No offence meant towards your idea but, I just don't get it. Besides, there's already a small iso town thing going on in the collabs department.

Sigh, I was sleepy at midnight, and now I just don't have the same inspiration.  I think what I was thinking was something like Civilization, how towns manage to take up one iso square. I thought that if we put a bunch of those squares together, a large continent could be made. Of course, I'm thinking clear, and I don't think it's a very good idea anymore.

We've got an action figure shop, maybe we could have some other shop collabs as well? For exmaple a candy store, a butcher, and maybe a gun shop? :D

Well it's kind of wierd, but a tree. we'd pre-make a leaf pattern and everyone would make something to go inside the leafs, like, say, a bird or a little house, or an animal of some sort. Then we'd collect all the tiles and put them together creating a huge tree full of stuff. We could also get a tiles to make a trunk that stack ontop of eachother. Maybe? lol.. just an idea.

How about some monthly contest?  Say like Pixelblink is the first
judge, he picks a topic and all entries must have something to do with
that topic, then at the end of the month he choses a winner.  Then
the winner picks the next topic and is the judge, and it continues from
there...  No real prizes, but a perfect chance for everyone to
brush up on some of them skills  =) I was going to do this once, and I came up with a list of rules for it... Making it fair and fun.

My problem is I always have a billion ideas goin on at once plus a tonne of projects that I'm still in the middle of trying to get done. There comes a point when you just have to say no to any more new ideas so you can get the older ones completed.

I was taking a shower when I got this weird idea. Bomberman is a very nice game, in fact one of my favorites. The only problem is playing it against a CPU, it's just not as fun as playing it against a real person. Now, I don't know how many Bomberman Flash clones there are out there, but I sure would like to play one! I'd be really interested if someone could program an online version of Bomberman multiplayer somewhere. Okay okay, the pixelling part is a little "different". The reason I posted this idea as a collaboration is simple; you can upload a tileset into the game and then easily start up a server that uses this tileset! People can come in to your server and play your map/tileset with no hastle! I'm sure a level design would be nice too. Bomberman games can easily work with just 3 different tiles (outside edge, floor, walls). Also, it would be cool if you could pixel your own character! Yes, yes, I'm nuts. I know this is complicated, but I'm a dreamer (and I'm not the only one [John Lennon, anyone?]). Edited by Dejital

What about an iso pixel theme park where people draw their own rides?
But, I don't think we could follow the usual model of collabs like this, you know, with "blocks". It'd have to be a little tricker. I was thinking of something like this, you have a big grass field divided into small squares. When someone decides to draw a ride, he'd ask for some space, like "5x7". The project director would then place the ride wherever he finds better, and draw the walking paths (like in Theme Park) And we don't need to stick just to rides, we could have other things like places that sell foods, drinks and stuff. Just think of Theme Park but with complete freedom. Yeah... It's tricky and probably too hard and 'expensive' in effort, but I think it's a nice idea. Edited by 1ucas

| Everyone say "Cheese!" Come on, that line alone has to give away my idea. We'd just have to make a rustic template for the people, then get people to pixel themselves into a PJ photo. It doesn't have to look like you, noone would know. Make your own facial expressions, give people the bunny ears thing... mysteriously have your hand not visible and be standing uncomfortably close to sedgemonkey... things like that. Good idea? bad idea? what's the general consensus? | |

| Dejital:  I love Bomberman, but wouldn't know where to begin to program a multiplayer game like that. 1ucas:   The theme park thing would get me off my ass to iso something for sure. I've always loved the idea of designing rides/attractions. I go to amusement parks all the time and I always think of how I could do it better. Saboteur: Pixel portraits would definitely be something I'd be into. It'd be cool to see how everyone sees themselves. The template could be a polaroid frame. | |

| Sedge, I was thinking more along the lines of a family portrait style, rather than an individual composition. We've got more than enough collabs that don't amount to a finished collaborative effort, so I figured a non-iso (iso city mosaic) and non-people-restricted(sensei and commodore's) collab was in order. Prolly tomorrow I'll think harder about background and people size, rules and all that fun. And in my brain it would add up to a cartoonist look, not realist. | |

If we got an original Flash clone made for Dejital's idea, then a
multiplayer version shouldnt be that hard.  Just use good ol ASP
pages to process Flash's .sendAndLoad function.

What about a Mr. Potato Head?  There could be a standard potato that people could draw the different parts for (shoes, eyes, mouths...) to customize as their own.  However, that seems to fall more along the lines of a doll/base senario, which is what I'm guessing this site is trying to move away from.  Still, it would be fun to see all the different parts people come up with.

I posted this idea as a separate thread, but I will repeat it, heh: Surrealist painters used to do this for fun, it's called "Exquisite Corpse". They fold a sheet of paper in, say, three equal parts, and each of them drew roughly a third of a body. then passed the sheet to the next guy, folded in such a way that he wouldn't be able to see what the previous one drew. The results are quite good, and it really is fun, I've tried it on paper. So what we could do is draw a 50X50 square, which would be a third of the final picture. One artist takes the bottom, one the middle, and the other the upper part of the body. The final result will be a 50X150 pixelart (duh!). If anyone got ideas of how to make this more fun -- go ahead.

sedge - I know exactly what you mean. Though it's not played that way originally, I'd suggest putting two pixels at each horizontal edge of each piece, so your piece will *have* to end at exactly those two pixels. The other option is when you are done with your part, you post only the bottom/top line of your piece (depending on what body part you are doing) and the next guy takes it on from there. Edit (response to the next post): Great! I'd love to see the results of this collab. What format do you suggest? I could make an example if I get some time off from work heh. Edited by Monstara

| Heh, my idea almost got jacked by so-lou. Kinda. I think you're thinking yearbook style, which would also be sweet.
That's the in-progress background for my version of the idea. The benches might just get chucked, because I feel like it. The main issue I'm having is that this has to be arranged in a way to fit the 30+ people (potentially) that want to put themselves in the shot. Any ideas would be gratefully accepted. As it stands, I plan to have crates or something for the further back rows to stand on, and maybe arrange it so we could have a row of people sitting on the roof. One feature I'd love to add is a mini-bio and a place to show the artist's whole self, because the people in the back rows will be partially hidden. That would be when you put the mouse over the person, otherwise you'd not know who did which one. That is yet to be decided, however, and I gotta add that somewhere to the background. I think people are going to be within 96 by 64 (you gotta allow for fat people) dimensions. Any ideas/complaints? Is so-lou's variation better? I think hers allows for less creativity and interaction, but is much clearer in terms of who did which person. Then again, my goal was for one big finished peice, not many little peices.

| While I rather like your idea, So-Lou's would be one giant collab as well.. it could be done so that it looks like you're looking at a book with each artists names along the side.. like an actual yearbook. Just thought I'd point that out ^.~ I love the idea of leaving enough room for 'larger' artists... and I love the template of yours so far... | |

They did something like this a few times over at Ozone Asylum...  http://ozoniclabs.com/staff/bunchapixels/ I think, that we should make this a big collab. Having all of us create a portrait of ourselves, maybe from a template so they look relativley the same size, and have us all in a group... Then clicking on a person will pull up a special profile, like in a yearbook... It would be cool, because, like any site, eventually someone will leave, or god forbid, pass-away, and there will still be something here to remember them by, wether it be them leaving, or the latter. Like in that link above, atleast 1/4 of the people in that portrait no longer go to the site, but they are still there, kinda... And of course, it would just look cool as hell.
