edit: still not sure about these colours, but i added some more detail

@ ingl0rius: Very nice work on the muscles and I love the colors and the idea, but his chest looks a little too long and because of that the logo needs to be moved down a few pixels. The bottom point should be past his pecks and onto his abs, here's a ref.

It depends on what time you're capturing them falling.

When sitting down, the first thing that will happen is the angel will simply lean back and fall through, face-up. Then, as he falls through the sky, the wings will catch the air, and cause the angel to flip over.

Or, if the wings are limp, which I couldn't possibly know, they would just stay lying on their back.

Just a 2 min' scribble from a new guy showing how he thinks an angel would fall:

Although i would imagine it to either:
-Fly off.
-do crazy spins in mid air while trynig to fly.
-or in this case, limp wings/unconscious.

It wasn't a question...as clarified last post. That's what the title of the piece is going to be. Don't worry. I got it wrong, too.

All palettes are looking very monochromic, I would suggest to hue shift some colors. And the sunset is not very believeble because of the low contrast.

Did you save it in .png? or Jpg? Apparently in .png, "artifacts" are saved with the file, making the file seem like it has more colors than what it does. Codewarrior had the same problem in the IsoAk project. Save the file in .gif format, and the problem should cease. I doubt you did it in JPEG, but just in case, JPEG saves in compression, so information is lost during the saving.

I don't know why, but .png is giving people a hard time now. I haven't had a problem with it? Does anyone know if there's more than one way to save in .png format?

Ugh I've done something stupid - I've been working on the png instead of my .psd in photoshop, so I'm stuck with the colours (wont solve by re-saving) Is there any way I can reduce the colours automatically or hunt down the rogue ones?

I really would like to enter this piece but i don't want to break rules obviously

@ingl0rius: I only have one other option: point...and...click... :\

Click over each pixel, and make sure that it's the right color.
Sorry it's not much help, but it's all I got. If you have the color replacement tool, or if you use GraphicsGale, which has a color replacement tool, and a color-counter (love that thing!), you could fix it. Either way, though, you'll still have to...point...and...click. :\

@mdog95: Yeah, I haven't had that problem much either, except for that one time when I saved in .png in PaintDotNet, and opened it in GraphicsGale. ~64 colors turned into 304!. Crazy stuff. All I can say on that is stick to one program when working on a project.

@inglori0us: if you change image mode to RGB, then indexed, you should get a prompt for how many colours you want. If you know how many you had, just input that (it's 20 or under, obviously) and it *should* be back to normal.

@Airstyle

Yes, paint.net is crap. I use Grafx2 and GIMP, depending on the project. I find animating a lot easier with GIMP, but general pixel art is much easier and faster in Grafx2. They both save .png and .gif the way they should be, and GIMP can save an animated PNG, not that it would be necessary since pixel art shouldn't be anywhere near 256 colors in one piece :P

I would use GIMP, but I don't like the way they handle their palette (can't dynamically manipulate it: have to "graph" it to the picture via gray-scale and whatnot). The animation set-up in GIMP seems too confusing. Those are the two things that made me use PaintDotNet, since you could download a animation plugin, and dynamically change the palette. However, Graphics Gale has Onion Skin, which is what pretty much sold me...unless I'm wrong about GIMP, and it's easier than what I've seen...

Just for the superman colour correction, if you have paint.net you can easily use the fill tool and reduce/increase the tolerance to fill in areas with the same colour even if they are of different shades.

Thankyou so much, this worked! I had to further reduce the colours, but this was great.

Thanks everyone else for your help and input too.

Addressing the elephant, if the balloon is carrying all of its weight, the elephant needs to be centered underneath the balloon (or, at least, his center of mass), and in a dangling body position. Right now, he looks like he's standing on the ground, even if the ground is not there.

Also, make sure you're only using 20 colors. I counted your palette, and it's WELL over.

I'd also like to add that the string on the balloon should be tight if it's pulling him upwards
