(No I can't kick people off my list, they have their reasons for wanting to be there). Actually a better approach is have a new tab called something like "lookouts". Its less elitist. This type of list could also be for those whom progress you follow out of interest or curiosity but are not neccessarily a favorite of yours. Someone working on a multipiece project, or even someone you mentor. An exclusive "fav artist" thing is not inclusive or proper, imho.

I'm just going to go ahead and respond to all the suggestions I've seen so far...

@Panda:  I know the "Adjust Text" is not obvious which is part of the problem.

@Aleiav:  We can increase comment length, but we will need a cap of some kind (sorry, I've been lazy about fixing this).

@Brian the Great:  Lenin will definitely be a fixture of PJ in v3.

@Dejital:  Last time I checked the Google translator Russian wasn't an option (maybe I missed it?)

@jalonso/MaloART:  WIP link  is a great idea for the PJ gallery (I'll leave it generic so people can post any forum's link).

@halfDemon:  I will make a permalink somewhere with every "top list" including the top 100 pixel art for each year (no awards for that yet).

@Ensellitis:  We need somebody dedicated to the Featured Artist thing... it's actually a lot of work to conduct interviews.  I have one with ptoing that's almost ready.

@Larwick: I will add "Number of Frames" to pixel art.

@MaloART: Storing ref links in a field could be a good idea, but I want to make sure it looks decent on the frontend (what if someone has a dozen ref links?)

@MaloART: Number of ratings per piece is a good idea to show.

@alkaline/PB/leel:  Ratings not showing up in "preview" is something I'm very torn about. I like the convenience of it, but I understand people might not be checking previews before scoring. Tough one.

@Dejital: Maybe we could expand the design horizontally so we don't have to sacrifice vertical space. I like news showing "above the fold".

@pixelblink/Ensellitis: Ensellitis and I will need to talk about how we are going to handle posting images in news/embedded video links in news posts, but that is one of the primary upgrades I want to get to.

@jalonso/Dejital: As for the reply to a comment thing... that is something I've been meaning to do for a looooong time (since I initially put the comment system in).  It will come.

@Monkey 'o Doom: Forum integration stuff will most likely be the last thing we get to because I want PJ gallery site to be tightened up before moving onto forum. Sorry. :P

@Akira:  Alerting via PM for favorite/lookout artists new pieces is a good idea. Alerting via email is not going to happen just because I don't want to burden the email server with that.

@jalonso/larwick/Everyone: There's no doubt we need to get a favorite artist system working smoothly at PJ.  Jalonso's idea for "lookouts" is a much better phrasing, but is that clear enough?

Whew. If I missed anyone's suggestions/requests just post it again and I'll keep adding to the list.

No, I did not suggest that. I can't code anything. I can't even remember emotes.
Besides non-english speaking folks need visual icons, no?

Maybe (big maybe) a pattern feature, that tiles your pixel arts automatically.

Such would be good for David Stoner's work and my recent War pixel and some stuff in the works. For now I have a link to the "full" version so it's not THAT much of a problem, not to mention most of the pixel art around seems to be everything but patterns. But still it's a nice option, like the WSIGNYAGFB(?) editor to be turned off.

Tile idea is something I actually did in V1 right before we went to V2 and left it off because there were not a lot of tiles coming into the gallery.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet (or if I'm just oblivious) but it'd be nice to be able to edit comments on news posts, artwork, etc. So many times I've noticed typos, stupidity, or whatever just after submitting and at that point it's all locked in for permanant...

I would be good if you had a 5 minute limit for editing, just so people can correct mistakes. Otherwise it could get complicated, perhaps even having 'edited by X at XX:XX XX/XX/XXXX' on it, which just wouldn't work on such small areas for commenting.

Or maybe a 'preview post' instead. Not sure which of the two would be more convenient to use and easier to code for Sedge.

Well, I don't know if this sticky is by the time off ...
I have another suggestion.

Well, in fact, it's not very new but I like the idea to have a global vote every 6 months (but it could be more or less of course) in a dozen of categories (animation, scene, realism, iso, etc...). 15 days before the votes, everyone may submit one pixel per category that was posted since the last competition. etc...
In fact this could be done without a specific interface and directly on the forum, but this would be nice to have a special module dedicated to the competition.

Another suggestion would be to have a daily trace of what happened on the IRC channel (in fact something liek the chatterbox). Some members (like myself) are behind a corporate firewall that denies IRC ports and proxies.

while this may seem like a good idea, it would have to be on a seperate page and not easily viewable.  our conversations can get very animated...  ltonight for example...  we talked about womens rights, gender roles, morals in media, which all somehoe led to the facts and fictions of anal intercourse and proper lubrication...  XD  it has been worse at times as well, plus, the official bot (Pikachu) has uno, and that itself can add up to several hundred messages.  a good idea to consider though...  maybe i can get the bot to log conversations and ftp them to the server, and have some kind of script format it...

I don't know if this has been suggested or it's already something that's been set to happen... but how about a way to make an avatar from even a large pixel art, but you can move the 64x64 square over the area desired for the avatar? I hope that made sense.

well, one way to do this (if its your art) is to make a tumbnail of the piece at 64x64, then you can use it as an avatar :D

Heya! Long-time lurker of the site and pixel art fan from the apple ][ days here.
Just two suggestions, if I might (don't know how possible they would be):
 1. The ability to scroll around an enlarged piece of pixel art. Oftentimes when I enlarge a piece past the original size, on larger pieces the entire right side is cut off. It'd be cool to be able to scroll over to the right side when the piece is cut off. Again, don't know how much of a pain in the arse that would be.
 2. (and more of a blue sky type o' thing): The ability to step through animations in the pixel art window. IOW, buttons to step from one frame of an animated gif to the next. Don't know if one can meddle inside a gif like that or not.

Anyways, love the site and love the work you all do.

hmmm, im not sure, but i dont really think that would be possible unless the user uploads each frame individually...  will look into it

one thing that would be sweet is a global login. If I login at pixeljoint.com gallery and go to the forum it would recognize me as being logged in. Same if I go login on the forum and go to the gallery.

Aside from that but very muched linked to it is a "keep me logged in" kind of thing. I can't seem to get that done.

And then there's the thing that the themecolors for the forum only work if I login at the gallery and then go to the forum (I used the darkgrey one) if I go straight to the forum I get the default greenish one.

not sure if this is a valid idea. but id love to see a new layout. instead of just rectangles and stuff. have an amazing layout. that challenges stuff like stovens layout. somethign really interesting that when pixel artists visit the page. they think, wow, i want to be part of this.

i think the main thing i would like to see is the forum and the site mashed together(and i think most people agree on that). same level systems, also display the posts you have in your profile thingy. i think 100% pixel art would be cool. is there any way i could help?

A suggestion for the forum: something that's been bugging me for some time is that when you click on the link button, it asks you what text you want for the link before asking you for the actual adress.
I go to many forums and they all ask for the link first, so it's quite annoying when I have to edit all my posts after finding out that the pages I gave are wrong.

edit: I also think that the hot topic system should be changed ^.^ pretty much all topics with 2+ posts are hot topics on pj..

How about a award ceremony at the end of every year? Like the Grammies.

   ie:
  • Artist of the Year
  • Best Piece of the Year
  • Best lil' Dude of the Year
  • Best Room for the Joint
  • Best newbie of the year
  • ect.
  • ect.

If these have been said, then just ignore them.

There was talk of customization, but i'm not sure of exactly what. I think the themes should still be in order, but have a full customizable profile. Such as the background, the colors, how stuff is organized. Maybe an option to add banner at the top of it. Things like that. Also, have things like: Profile comments, 88x31 banner instead of text for website link, last visitors, forum posts, custom fields(or a list of extra fields you can add).

Like i said before, if the forum was melded into the site, it would be great.

There should be an option to submit your art to deviantArt(if they permit it of course) Most likely a bad idea, but i'm just throwing it out there.

But, I love the way PJ is right now.

Option for denser gallery display: thumbnails only in a grid, if you want to find out extra info or rate it then you can open its own page. EDIT: Just noticed you can already do this. Duuuh!

Artist comment space: like on Elfwood, for when you want to comment on the totality of an artists works, rather than any specific piece.

Zero point ratings:
for when there has been obviously no effort placed in a piece.

The inability to rate ones own pieces:
it makes me feel dirty to do so, but makes me feel disadvantaged if I don't.

ooo ooo, and upload mutliple files(if people have a bunch of animations, and don't want to put them all into one file.) Also, if you have like an avatar collection for aim, and people can set any of them.
