So what are we doing in this thread? Well, we're being vein mostly and because I personally love the OPP's simple character design and style, thought, hell, this project needs more of, well, ME! And you, of course some more of YOU! So thats what we're doing here, we're going to create some avatars of ourselves in OPP style!

Here are the Guidelines

OPP CHALLENGE: OPP-atar

Design a character in OPP style that either looks like you, or you just simply wish to use as an avatar.

Here's the Pallet.


Canvas Size    - 64 x 64.
Colours           - Dawn Bringers 32 colour pallet
Transparency - Optional
Animation      - Optional
Background    - Do whatever! Simpler is sometimes better!

Well, you're not exactly alone there, I just spent the past 15 minutes trying to figure out what "Atar" meant... 

Anyway, I gotta give a big thumbs up to Damian, I frickin' love this idea!

So without further ado...

Also, I gotta say, if we post these to the gallery, it'd be excellent advertising for the OPP. Definitely going to use this as my avatar for awhile now!

Although I have not contributed anything to this project (though I plan to), here is mine. Any advice and comments on it match to the style would be nice.

Sure!

Some little things to start with: The ear looks a bit like a hanging dogs ear. Maybe by drawing a line on the top it will look disconnected from the top of the skull
A belt like this would be worn above the hips, right? This guy either has very low hips, or a very low belt..  Try and imagine what he looks like underneath, that might help :)

Give it some depth & form! This is hard, I know I've been there too. But try to imagine the body as a 3d shape and figure out where direct light would not hit. For example if your source is top right, the left side of the body can be shaded, and so can the face. Simplifying the details such as the wrinkles decreases the necessity of realistic shading!

At last, a darker outline especially on the skin will help it to stand out more against the red background.

If you post an update, I am sure others can point out things too! Keep up the good work :)

Bathmaster, very fitting :) Some critique, the beard doesn't really look like a beard at the moment, to me it actually looked like some odd shading. Really easy to fix though, just make sure the mustache part of the beard starts directly underneath the nose. There are also some other minor things, but I'll post about that another time.

Also, woah! Wasn't expecting this sort of response! :) I'll update the main post in a bit. Also, if you guys edit your avatars I'll update them when I can. But, yeah, they all look good so far.

Probably my favorite N64 game.

So I rerendered mine and animated it. Granted the animation is a bit choppy.

Thank you Bathmaster! I do agree, I exaggerated too much on the cartoon animation.

But as per Damian's crits back in the main PJ site, here is a new version.

Being naught but a poor programmer, I feel somewhat left out. Can I beg an animation off someone?

I finally had an idea for an avatar that pleased me! It's me in my work uniform carrying out a pizza. Any suggestions for improvement would be greatly appreciated!
