The Nitty-Gritty

We've got some great emoticons here at PJ, however not a overly big selection...  So it is time that you, the community, do something about that.

Rules:

Anyone can join in the chaos fun
You can submit as many as you want.
You can "redo" a emoticon already made, but there are no garuntees that it will replace the old one.
Admins (mainly sedge) will have final say on what emoticons get accepted, so don't whine.

Restrictions:

Animation: Allowed, encouraged even.

Max. File Size: There really isn't one,  but keep it reasonable, no smilies that are 200kb, please.

Max Color #: Unlimited, but keep it reasonable.
Min. Size: 16x16
Max. Size: There really isn't one,  but keep it reasonable. (Personally i'd say no larger than 16px in hieght ~ Lar)
NO RIPPING!: Duh...
Template:

This template belongs to Blueberry Pie, so if you are going to submit your emoticon to the gallery, give credit where credit is due.

(No need to necissarily stick to this template)

The Fine Print:

Entries should have a transparent background and must be a GIF format. 

Not all emoticons will be accepted.  

Do your best. if they are of poor quality, or just "dumb", they will not be accepted.  Remember, these will be used here on the forum, and on the main site, and none of us want to see a load of crappy looking emotes all over.

This is NOT a WiP thread.  If you have a complicated animation that you need help with or ect, use our high quality WIP forum for that.

	@mod: you should still add some face to that, like maybe a "questioning" emotion. but it still kicks ass! @vidd: you need to seperate those and update that post please. and make the jpeg compression a little bit more obvious. great start

	Awesome job so far. MoD that's hilarious. I agree with some sort of face or something, maybe more metally too. more: the Ridalin one the head explosion one the cookie one the bad anatomy one the love you (in a hetero way) one the zing one the spam one

	You guys should remember what jpg format does to an image. Add the tiling, the edge spilling... etc.

	Because that wouldn't be pixel-art and I felt against it. :X I did, though, test it in Photoshop to see what it would be like and it was surprisingly similar. I feel actually making it a bad quality .jpg detracts from the point as an emoticon; people aren't likely to save it in that degree of compression, anyway. Edited by Vidd - 07 October 2006 at 3:27pm

	Hand pixel-ed; no machine .jpg-ing although that's probably obvious. I used the base for this one. EDIT: Disregard this post for a minute. 	hmmm... it just looks like a bad emote. Maybe it need a thought bubble with jpeg in text in it. Or the face goes from sharp pixels (smiling) to a jpeg'd version (sad) animation?

	I suggest gif and png ones are the same (without dither), or people may get the idea that all gif's have auto-dither.

	personally i prefer the first boxes you did. they are small and simple. with the faces you will have to add something stating what they are, making it bigger

The only thing that differentiates those two formats (for static pixel-art) is the pallette restriction. I wasn't sure how to convey that besides dithering. :/
