I love the style and your use of the palette.

I'm trying to learn how to do metal surfaces, so I'll be watching this with keen interest. For example, I think your use of dithered highlights on the floor makes the floor look curved rather than flat. But I don't know how to improve upon it.

What are the objects on the floor, besides the crates? The tile with four squares. Traps? Pillars?

EDIT:

Included my failed experiment to improve. I don't prefer this, but thought I'd share anyway.

I was trying out different objects to make it look less boring, I had difficulty with the floor before because, it stole atention from the player...
So this version is the best, at keeping all things balanced.
Infact, I had a simply 1 colored floor before!

It should be looked at with some zoom like here

EDIT:
Neat, I will try out some of the stuff there

Looking at how Mrmo Tarius does some of his minimalistic game mockups, it's interesting to see how he achieves an interesting texture with very few colours. He's not covering large surfaces with the same tile, but creates different tiles to break up large and boring surfaces. Different tiles with different surfaces, cracks, holes, etc.

It's great to see some more stuff from you. These are some pretty snazzy stuff tiles and characters you got so far.

That is what I'm trying to do...
But ye mrmo is really great at this, I think I will avoid too much of the destructed look, Its inside of a spaceship.
Will see if I can add some nice tiles for the floo and think out a few assets on the floor like creates and barrels. A few computers can work too.
I think I need to redesign the geometry, like you see in the 2nd mockup that is a better lightning system!
Here is my progress on the explosion:

EDIT:
@ADrawingMan
I post stuff all the time, just not here...

Tiles, I think they work better now, and the floor is not so boring.
Will make them less generic later and add lots of variation, but for now how do they look?

I'm personally not a huge fan of the dithering in the inaccessible areas, but I really like your new floor tiles, the shadows and the lighting on the walls.

Dithering is the way to go I think...

I think the dithering is what makes this unique and with the patterns within its even prettier.
