I see that the maximum size is 240x160, does it mean that we can draw a GBA mockup?

I don't think so, Robinson. D:

I'm in.

When you say 'monster movies' you mean 'giant monster movies' like Godzilla or monster movies in general, like Dracula or maybe Alien?

If you click on the link under Monster movie you can read the wikipedia page. And judging by it, yes. Even the Mummy is ok I think.

Probably bmp + photobucket.

Really WIP.

EDIT: I was going for Steampunk/Film Noir, but it could probably count as Romance too, non?

A very rough sketch:

I'm thinking Western/Steampunk, with a dash of Monster Movie, but only if you count a crazy robotic dirigible as a monster >.>

It was going to be Steampunk/Film Noir, then Steampunk/Romance. Then I drew a dirigible that was accidentally several hundred times too big... so now it is the monster dirigible of death...

[E] SLightly less rough sketch >.>

@sapphira: The guy looks steampunk but the woman should be in a Victorian ballgown or something.

i looked up references for the girl (some steampunk costumes for girls often have short skirts). i guess i could make her dress more victorian since im doing the rich girl-poor boy thing as romance.

Just a early WIP just worked on.
Meant to be a monster movie romance. I will work on some more tonight, maybe a backround.

@ Jeremy:  This is fantastic, and I can't wait to see the next stage of it.
Please disregard if this has been fixed already, but the hat is shifted a bit too far to our left.
Also, I love Victorian alleys, and if there are features such as in http://lh4.ggpht.com/_qJrmgsKbibQ/RXNAdFbs9FI/AAAAAAAABpc/ZAPCtiy3v30/PC034451.JPG - these http://farm1.static.flickr.com/212/485365665_f443f36aed.jpg - three http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd97/HideyoshiR/Alley_s.jpg - images , then I'd be even more happy.  This is my favourite so far.

apparently, i'm stuck cause i'm worry about exceeding the color amount. any suggestions? i'm hoping to get it done by tomorrow evening cause i need to get started on my term paper (i'm a slacker at times)

Looking great so far.

About colours, you can easily cut down the colours. Check your similar colours and see if you can combine them, I can see you've already done that, but I think you could try thinking more outside the square. For example grey doesn't need to be pure grey.

Also, you have some stray pixels - there's a random purple on the back of the dress.

Maybe play around with the smoke from the smoke stacks on the left, I think it's a bit distracting at the moment. Personally, I would make the smoke a little less messy and more of a smooth shape. Also, I think a darker colour would help the smoke to appear more in the background and keep the focus more on the couple.

Good luck with your pixels (and term paper).

I just think the shadows look a bit too sketchy. And I'm not sure if I get the genres you tried to combine. Monster movies and...?

apparently, it's gonna take me a tad bit longer to make the clouds, so i'm bowing out of the challenge (for now). i need to focus on my finals (yeah it's that time again). i'll have it up during thanksgiving break.

... steam punk. Thanks, I think so too... Apparently it needs revision because it doesn't have the score needed for approval. Weird, huh?

That's probably because of the sketchy shadows and general lineart.
Most people consider it a non-pixel art (in this case, an Oekaki), since you dind't place each pixel separately.
If you define the outlines and shadows better, it'll probably be accepted.
Good luck :)

Ahck, I got sick a couple days ago, so I have gotten almost no where. So that is me, too, bowing out. But I am going to try and finish it anyways.

just a sketch , its a very early WIP, The monster should be holding some tools as gift to his date , it still needs a lot of work , but I'm satisfied  with how's looking at the moment....

I'm bending Monsters Movies with Romance and a bit of Steampunk

I think that it was of the most interesting themes recently. Quite strange that it gained not a lot entries, but some of them are definitely worth a look.
