I am Kitty and I work out of MSPaint. I dio simply shading in 3, sometimes 4 colors, 5 max. I don't believe in using Gimp for anything other than rendering my works into .gifs. I think it's cheating to use a program to flood fill a pattern in for you or to create the folds in the fabrics for you. I prefer to do it all myself. I don't heaviy modify the base bodies I use either. I look for a lot of variables before deciding on a base to use - face, pose, size, shading - so if you're hunting for work where the base has been modded so heavily it's not even recognizable as what it began as....you're on the wrong person's gallery. ^v^
