A little while ago, Koji Igarashi’s team released a preview of the shaders being used in his new game Bloodstained. The fans went ballistic, and a number of fans between those (including myself) wondered what would the game look like in pure 2D, instead of the 2.5D Igarashi is going for.
I took up the mantle to redesign the screenshot released by his team into a 2D pixel art format. Y’know, just like the classic formula that made Castlevania so popular. I took some liberties with the mockup, of course, since many things that work on a 3D render can’t be properly translated to 2D without something going awry.
