Nice colors and really interesting dithering, works great for this sort of clothing!
As for pose, I recomend doing gesture drawings. Search for Proko on youtube, he has some really helpful videos on the topic of gestures imo
Thank you very kindly, I wish I could reply to more than one person in one post because everything I said to Madrill applies to you as well lol. Thank you very much
@Mandrill;
omg thank you so much! :D Not gonna lie, composition is my biggest trouble area, I really struggle with it so any and all feedback and advice in that regard is always moooore than welcome and appreciated. I have very much to learn. I feel relatively comfortable with techniques and whatnot for the time being, now so I suppose it's time I buckle down and spend time studying composition, thanks for pointing out the direction my studies need to go next!
Edit; I tweaked the pose some, I don't know if it helped, hindered or left it in the same state
Great work! I immediately recognized this as yours. I agree with Mandrill and I will go one further. In my opinion, you're really great at picking colours, rendering textures and placing pixels. But your work often suffers because the shapes and proportions don't look quite right.
That being said, I think this may be your finest work yet. Faved.
Wow, Kat! As always amazing colours. Furthermore I'm blown away by the lovely dither patterns, AA and textures. It looks like a totally new and refreshing style.
One minor nitpick though. The pose looks a bit "out of balance" if you know what I mean.
Nevertheless, it's one hell of a pixel!
I didn't think too much of this at 1x, then I bumped it up and woah! Look at that! It captures the old illustrated quality of the mid-late-90's Square material very well -- like if Akihiko Yoshida was in charge of sprites.
I would love some flatter areas in the character for the eye to rest. It is a bit busy and some of the forms get lost. This would not be the case if the texture was concentrated in the midtones. But that's nitpicking.
PS I didn't read the description at first and wondered if all these years I had mistaken Vivi's gender ;)
