Thank you all for the nice words :)
@Adam: Well, I will experiment a bit with the sprite... it is a bit complicated because of non-antialiasing and the limited sprite dimensions...
The button icons are overlays. The sprite color is also used for context-based status (white is possible, light blue is inactive, flashing colors for selection).
@Stickman: Yes, it is. There is already a v1.1 ready for download, though because of the short game duration (about 40 minutes of gameplay) the team started working on an extended version incl engine modification.
v1.1 can be downloaded here:

A fantastic mix of multicolor and hires, a real beauty! I love this project.
The sprite of the protagonist looks more balanced now that the head is pushed back a (double) pixel, though I would still suggest adding some shadows to the area under the breast (right now it look a bit as if she were wearing a life vest), and bending at least the leg closer to us for better support.
Are the button icons sprite overlays?
Continuing with the already amazing standard of work shown in the current version of the game - very nice indeed - looking forward to seeing how the enhanced version turns out...
This looks great and I wish I could play it xP
Thanks for talking about the restrictions! I knew a little bit about the C64 but reading that got me to look up more about it, so I could appreciate works like this a little more.
For an 8 bit game - I think that 40 minutes is more than enough! Back in the day, most games could be completed in far less time.
