two dolls, made 100% by me...the original was Arsenic, for a "chemical elements" contest... I started with the base, making something that looked victorian, suited for a corset-y thing...and then looked for an outfit. I stumbled upon a site called Arsenic Fashions and was inspired by a dress I found there... I used metalic grey and yellow, because they are the colors of arsenic, and green because the element used to be used in making Emerald Green dye. The lace, if you look closely, is made up of bugs - spiders, in particular - because arsenic is an insecticide! the clips in her hair, also look like bugs. her jewelry and hair are bronze, because arsenic was used to strengthen bronze. her skin is pale, because victorian women took arsenic in small doses to lighten their skin. finally, she's holding a poison bottle - because arsenic was a VERY popular poison in the 1800s. after I was done, I played with colors some, and come up with the lovely lady Absinthe... |
