This has been my desktop background for quite some time now.
(scales up to 1920x1080 at 4x, just to let others know)
Really nice scene, lots of details to appreciate
I love this. Especially the textures and colour usage are totally on point.
@rocifier, well, it is an important part of the picture. I couldn't come up with something that can replace the bike and moving it from the focus, and leaving an empty space is not such a good idea, I think. Still, thanks.
Aw you kept the focus on the bike. Still, beautiful piece.
@TheInquisitor, Thanks for the compliments and feedback.
The bike and the guy originally were meant to be sprites, so it turned out contrast to the background. But I don't really want to change anything right now and thinking about just leaving the picture as it is.
Great work!
Actually the only bit I don't like is the bike. It looks quite pixelated and scraggy compared to the rest. I'd recommend having a second look at that, perhaps keeping it darker and anti-aliased to the horizon behind. Maybe.
Why do you bring up my heritage everytime, comrade Zizka?
It's not accepted here, in Mother Russia.
Goodamn! Looks great. Russians are taking over the world.
@Redshrike, It's really a good thing. I always tried to copy some of the Helm's techniques. And it's really great to hear the comparison with such an artist.
I'd say it's very atmospheric.. the ramps and bicycle make it appear to be a bmx riders' haven
Amazing! I totally agree with what Manupix said about the diagonal lines. It's not exactly a mistake but it would surely look better if you used different angles of inclination in those lines. I don't have much to add because landscapes are not really my thing.
I just wanted to say I really like the colors, they worked very well together. (:
For some reason this gives me a very 'Helm'-like vibe (which is always a good thing).
@Manu, Wow, that's a great feedback, thanks.
I didn't know most of all, really. Will try to implement in my next pieces.
About least used colors - nice catch. Well, half of it. One of the colors is accidential indeed. Somewhere in the middle of the work I got my pencil set on 99% transparency or something like that, so there was few accidental colors. Thought I got rid of them. Nof fixed. As for hair - I added this color especially for those 2 pixels, couldn't find a fitting one in the palette.
Awesome!
There are some composition weaknesses though.
Most diagonal lines // are parallel and probably too much so, a few \\ lines in the upper right corner (or top center) might add some dynamism.
The sky 'even randomness' makes it look flat, a more realistic 'perspective' might give the piece more depth.
More brighter clouds would help balance the big shadow patch on the right of the piece.
Palette nitpick: those 2 least used colors are likely accidental.
Not sure about the bike outlines.
Instant fave. I think it is plenty atmospheric and there is nothing that is obvious as needing polish, IMO.
Great work.
I honestly think it doesn't need polishing at all. Fantastic work!
@philippejugnet, Thanks. Surely it could. Everything can be polished more, but I've been working on it for more than 2 months (in a veeery slow pace), so wanted to finish.
Lovely scene. I just think it could have been more atmospheric somehow.
Awesome
