The background color looks a lot like the color you used in the J. The background isn't there just for you to fill it, you should take it as your ally and use it to highlight your mains subject. The easiest way to do it is to use a very darker or very ligher tone, but you can also use a color to do it (like a bright yellow background would highlight a dark purple subject). In this case here you could take the tones you used in the pearls. The orange would work better with the blue and you wouldn't need to add more colors to your palette.
Besides that, I like the shadding you did on the pearls, they look convincing.
