Thank you. The shadow is rather abstract and not very accurate. I just did the same thing I did around his feet, just giving a hint of the shadow under the tip of the blade, which is the part that's the closest to the floor... if that makes any sense.
I believe that talent is overrated. It's practice that makes perfect, as they say. Just keep practicing and you'll improve. Thanks for the compliment!
I'm temporarily taking a break, the current work in progress is port to SDL2, and nothing good is ready to distribute yet.
Haha yeah... damn thumbnail! I'm using the same standard-sized 50x50 thumbs I use in my blog. Not always easy to pick a good spot in an image :D Glad you clicked it anyway.
You're too kind. Glad you like my stuff. I just wouldn't speak of a posting hiatus. It's just that I don't do lots of pixel-art and therefore the periods between pieces are quite long. If you're not just into pixel-art feel free to check my other stuff as well. Thanks for the kind words :)
I like that sort of colors, at least in pixel-art. Most of my stuff nowadays is vector and there I prefer entirely different colors. I totally understand that people will grow tired of such palettes. Btw this specific palette here wasn't just very similar to most others but used in another piece before. Anyway, thanks a lot for your feedback!
Btw you're "Mr Grafx2", aren't you? Are there plans for new binary releases in the near future?
Alter Schwede... hmm, das hab ich echt schon lange nicht mehr gehört. Besten Dank für das Kompliment!
Thank you. I agree and have replaced it with a slightly edited file.
a really good draw, but i dont get the sword's shadow O.o
This palette and the detail are amazing. Wish i had the same talent.
Great palette. Great posture! Great detail...great I say!
Wicked serrated blade. Almost didnt click on this because I couldnt make out the preview, glad I did though. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. Checked your profile to see if the rest is this good and.. I'm glad you're back from your posting hiatus. Really inspiring stuff. Great dithering, great combined use of colors. Lots to learn from this.
This is one of your masterworks so far! It's clear that the composition is well thought beforehand, and it's a pleasure to see your shapes are getting more and more precise over time. My only critic is that you keep using the same kind of palettes. These cold, dusty colors do work very well (especially on the blade), but I think you overuse them. You should keep an eye for opportunities to try different colors schemes - in this case, browns/reds would be worth a try, they probably would give more feelings of candle-lit, gory, diablo-like character.
Alter Schwede! It's so damn well pixelled....
Great stuff.
this is really cool! palette pose and overall design. maybe some shade on his teeth could help ( my only critique )
Ah I see. Thanks for the info... and for a great program. It's actually my favorite pixel application.
