My submission for the Japanese Horror challenge is the Kuchisake Onna.


The Kuchisake Onna is the ghost of a woman who was brutally mutilated by her husband out of jealousy. When someone is approached by her, she will be wearing a surgical mask. She will the person if they think she is beautiful. If they answer no, she will kill them with scissors. If yes, she will remove her mask and ask again. If the answer no, she will bisect the person with her scissors. If yes, she will use her scissors to slit the person's mouth like hers.

Hehehe, I expected this urban legend to appear; rather hoped for it!

One thing that jumps into my mind is that her overall face looks scary. Though only the mouth is supposed to be the shocking-party. You could try to create a contrast of pretty and ugly! That would be quite interesting. Just to throw in some ideas : )

Appearantly you can't run from her without her appearing right next to you. Some adaptions say if you ask her if you are beautiful, she will get confused and it will give you time to run.
