If I would make a game like Flashback on my own, this would be the maximum detail level I could handle.

I am playing it right now on my megadrive, it still gives most modern indie games a run for their money (visually) But the gameplay is a bit annoying and stiff, but it is a rewarding game if you pull through! thanks Haash
