Oh, well I use a program called Pyxel Edit, and I used the spray tool. The program also allows you to choose the next color in regards to hue, brightness etc, so it's mainly what I've used. I see how this would be a problem :)
Like I said, new to pixel art, I tried to stick to the rules but I see this is a bit unfitting! Sorry and feel free to remove it!
It's working rather well, but given the pretty large color count and the way light/shadows fall on surfaces, was this created using transparenies/brushes? (Pixeljoint is more about "pure" pixel art that doesn't use these media.)
i think it looks pretty sick . and i think pixeljoint should imbrace different ways of doing things instead of setting such boundries as it does .. i like this and will fav it ..pure pixel art does not exist there are many different ways to do things and doing them different should not be looked down on ..
