I am currently developing a farming game and opted for pixel art as its graphical style. This is a quick composition of some assets I made (a house, rocks/cliff and sprites), they won't appear as such in the game but I would like feedback on the coherence and overall style. |
The characters don't read well against the background, especially that grass. In a game, you have to prioritize the important visuals (interactive elements, such as NPCs), and de-prioritize everything else. Otherwise, the players will feel lost and have a hard time figuring out what they can interact with and what they can't. To that end, it's best to give backgrounds a little less contrast both in terms of values and hues.
