This portrait was done to express my outlook on the recovery of my back injuries, following a car accident.

Daruma has been my inspiration for this work: I used his red, black and gold palette as the basis for this piece. Being off sick has been monotonous, and I feel like it's given me insight, as would meditation. 

Red is the colour of courage and boldness, gold is the colour of the sacred and extraordinary; the halo outlines a miracle (I have been extremely fortunate).
