The high contrast of the background compared to the person in the front makes it hard to recognise at x1 scale. The extensive use of patterns and dithering also looks noisy and adds to this readability issue.
The forms itself look good to me, I would try to do with less noise and play around with the colors, especially the brightness.
For example, try out lighter darks for the blue and darker darks for the orange and see if it looks better to you or not.
Just experiment a bit, the groundwork itself looks good
It feels so much like a Gameboy Colour Screenshot. Where the guy is made out of OBJs and the rest from BG tiles each with its own 4 colour palette. But of course it couldn't be as one of the OBJs colours should be the transparency.
