Hmm... yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I don't think I'll use yellow for the highlights of the purple, but Cyan sounds good. I'll experiment with that and see how it looks.
I really like this. The depth could be improved by blending the leaf color purple to cyan as it progresses dark..light. or purple to yellow -- the important thing is you have a strong color for the trunk, and some of the leaves will be in front of the trunk so they should look more important.
