Fun/not-fun facts:

Some schools in Japan have strict rules such as black only hair, length of hair, socks covering the ankles, etc. A teacher maybe standing at the school gate to inspect or even do it in class, making the student stand up in front of everyone. Students who don't meet the regulations are told to go straight home.

Personally, I'm against school uniforms and overly strict rules. Your piece and description made me think about such things.
