You know Shetland Ponies? Those fuzzy tiny little ponies?
Golda Apache is the fastest Shetland Pony, height 107 cm or less, and the first pony in his category to ever trot a kilometre under two minutes. For reference, the human record for the same distance is 2 min 12 s and the light trotter (easily 160 cm high) record is 1 min 08 s.
Golda Apache is now retired. His career consisted of 172 heats of which he won 120, finished second 26, and third 7 times. He won 24 377 Euros altogether, which is pretty impressive when you consider that pony racing is mostly something harness racing juniors do for fun and to learn, and not connected to betting.
His major victories include septuple Finnish A category pony harness championship, quintuple Finnish A category pony monté championship, quadruple Pony Trotting King title winner, and septuple Pony Hollola winner.
