Thief and System Shock series are two major milestones in FPS games and I simply love them.
I wish Looking Glass Studios was never closed.
They don't make games like these anymore. The market is saturated by casual games.
Great pixel work by the way!
With only a few short years of evolution, they've been able to conquer this starship, mankind's mightiest creation. Where were we after forty years of evolution? What swamp were we swimming around in, single celled and mindless? What if SHODAN's creations are superior to us? What will they become in a million years, in ten million years? What's clear is that SHODAN shouldn't be allowed to play God. She's far too good at it.
I played this game like 6 times or maybe more, I lost count.
First time I played that game was brutal, I got killed around every corner and by every type of enemy imaginable, I ragequit when got killed a bazillion time at the engineering level. But after the second playthrough I discovered that the easiest way to begin the game is to chose the navy path with hack skill already unlocked. And have to upgrade it to at least level 2 as soon as possible so you can hack the locked supply crates and security systems, the locked crates contain way more important items such as specialized ammo, less shodier guns, and hypos. While the security disabling prevents Xerxes turrets from whacking you since you get less than a second to get out of their line of sight. Also, further upgrading your hacking skills can get you to turn Xerxes turrets and security measures against the many, which saves you a LOT of ammo and hit points since they spawn indefinitely.
The ending was a little anticlimatic though. For such a well written story, that is.
