Like hell you suck at designing mechanical objects.I've rated it six on the design alone,it's seriously awesome looking!
You're not alone on the sucky mechanical details part. I suck at that part too.
Ok it could use a little more 'volume'.. it does look a bit flat...
But the details are good and I do think it's an interesting design. Would make a cool boss in a shootemup.

. This is so incredibly attractive. Its mechanichal yet has a *lacy* look to it that is simply stunning. It has the right *weight* and is quite belieavable. While mirroring is usually not the best thing to do, it really works here and you changed enough to make it work, really, really well. I cannot imagine a better color palette here. fav'd.
