I think you should add some perspective to the grassfield behind, or even add a horizon line and some skye... Because the grass looks like wallpapers.
Yeah, the canopy blends in with the grass a bit too much, and the shadow is pretty strong, making it kind of look like there's a hole in the ground.
Yeah, that makes sense. I'm going with a 32 color palette overall for the thing I'm drawing this for, but I did go and change the grass to be as low-contrast as I my palette allows [while still being green, of course]
I love the way you did the leaves and the trunk, but maybe it would be more readable without so much grass behind :P
