Yeah, I kinda rushed this after I got back, might touch it up later tonight :/ And your right about the moon, I did not know that! In regards to the grass I kept retrying it and ended up just doing slightly different colors to layer it, should of looked back at my last pixelart for better contrast options. I'll give it another shot though, cause I like the overall look of it, just needs some polish and touch up! Thanks again for all the advice :)
That's a pretty cool subject to draw. I think the laterns and the moon should have different colors though, so that they contrast.
It looks like some automatic tools were used: 773 colors...
I went to a ceremony lantern for a wedding and an end of trance festival. It was awesome!
The shading of light reflection work really well but in order to do some realistic stuff you may know that the reflection is always under the moon and not aside. I get what you tried to achieve by displace the reflection but it's wrong.
Check out google image with "moon sea" and you will see that reflection is always just under the moon.
Also the grass need improvement to me. First you cool AA the top of the grass with the rest of the scene. Also you may want to avoid banding effect on the grass. There again contrast is way too low. I'm sure there is a way to manage this a better way.
:)
I agree, I think I might make the moon more white to seperate the colors. I never use automatic tools, always pencil tool on 1 pixel, but I think I know what happened; I mede the opacity of the pencil tool 10% so I could do highlights on the water (did a lot of clicking), which probably made the color count sky-rocket :/ I didn't like the effect to much though, so I think I'll stick to my usual doing it :)
