I don't think it's likely to be accepted in its current state.
Thanks for the help. I'll take all those things to heart. So you think I should delete this and then repost after working on it in the forum when it's ready or do you think it's okay to leave up for the time being?
Polish is something I struggle with too, so I'm probably not the best person to ask xP Refining the lineart (or eliminating the lineart if you want a more painterly look) is definitely the main thing I'd focus on, since that stands out more than the other problems.
I think this piece would benefit from more work on the shadows and overall clarity. You have some deep shadows on Indy's face, but the shape of the head doesn't read very well because what is visible has some anatomy issues. Then, Indy's arm has barely any shadows, looking rather odd compared to the face - especially odd considering the face would be receiving more light than the arm, since it's closer to the light source.
I think you should bring back the background. It could help disambiguate the lighting in this scene, as well as help with the drama.
Consider making the piece smaller. What's the smallest detail you want in this piece? What's the smallest size you could draw that detail and still keep it readable? Size accordingly. Instead of resizing existing art and then refining, I think it might give you better results (and certainly better practice!) to redraw from scratch.
If you want to put more work into this piece, I recommend making a thread for it on the forum, so you can get feedback as you work. The gallery isn't meant for WIPs, afterall.
Well, balls. It did start out as a drawing so that's probably why it retains a lot of the same features. Thank you for setting it straight. I really like this piece though and don't want to scrap it because I feel like I spent so much time on it! How would you go about correcting it besides the jagged lines and manual adjustments? I hate that I feel like I keep submitting unfinished work. I suppose that's part of getting better.
This is what PJ calls "oekaki" rather than pixel art - there's no pixel-level polish on the lines and shapes, most of the lines are jagged/uneven; it's made of pixels and doesn't feature automatically-generated colours, but it's not using those things to make the artwork better. Even as oekaki, the jagged scribbly lines are giving it an unfinished look and could use some manual editing to make them smoother.
That's what I needed to know. Thanks again!
