Several of your pieces make me think of tangram puzzles.
That was a Rocko's Modern Life quote that always seems to creep is way into my mind when someone talks about pirates.
I understand why you did it as for what you had to work with I think it came out great! The more I look at it, the more details appear.
Thanks Dex!
I think the biggest problem with the piece is the C64 colour palette limitation. It's notoriously hard to work with because it's so dreary, and most of my image is in darker colours. I should've shifted the palette up brighter so I didn't have to dither with black so much. As a result I've got a really grainy image...
I really liked your Monkees take on the pirate theme haha. That's never occured to me at all.
I think the whole image would've been better if I just focused on the part in the top right :P You can see that it's using the brighter colours so it doesn't need so much dithering.
"Arr, and then, I heard a scream so loud it could be heard down in Davy Jones' locker. Mickey Dolenz's locker too, and Peter Tork's locker. All the Monkees had lockers..."
Very nice! I like your use of font and shapes for dithering and how you incorporated them into the picture. That cobweb on his hat fits just right to the piece! There's a little weirdness going on in the dithering next to the cave opening, but it's not bad. I think it's just the style of sizing the pixels between the fore/backgroud. Other than that I think it looks really good.
Thanks you guys :)
@Harmonica I really like working with solid colours with triangles and rectangles. I think the closer I can get to just using those shapes the better off the piece will be.
@DexRunner Rocko's modern life was way too advanced for kids...
