It turns out, they were all right! The more colors you have, the more difficult the piece is to mold into what you desire. I suppose that's especially true when it comes to knowing what you want to see and then trying to figure out how to use all those durn pigments to make said image.
Lucky for me this week's contest bypassed both my normal problems! No worry about color and no worry about subject matter. I didn't even worry about the size of the image! Wahoo!
With no subject other than the 1-bit restriction, I'm excited to see what everyone will decide to make up this week.
I had an idea in mind for what I wanted out of this week which was basically shadow, silhouette, and snow. I had no plans to dither or any such nonsense, but it just turned from necessity to an organic approach in style. Once I got what I basically wanted down, the details practically filled themselves in!

You'll notice the distinct differences from the reference, yet trying to keep the aspects that really made the photos pop.
