It was a difficult decision! Why do you torture my decision making skills so, Weekly Contests?!
It was a toss up between Vocalist / Keyboardist / Flute Player (Flautist?) / Balding Sasquatch of indie classic rock group Dr. Smith, Norman Breedlove; Shred master / guitar virtuoso and all around nice guy, Paul Gilbert; or supergroup frontman Robert Plant (and the list goes on). Many of the musicians I love are either not well known (nearly unknown) or (dare I say) too well known. I tried to pick someone with enough personality that would both make for a great showing piece and maybe be interesting enough to give some well deserved exposure to.
Of course I settled on my first mention: Norman Breedlove. Dr. Smith is most well known for going viral with the campy (yet satirically amazing) Zombie B!tches Kicking People's @$$. It specifically definately got 15 min worth of attention, but they have some really amazing other work that should be recognized (not to mention the mspaint polished music videos and artwork). Check out the music on their youtube channel! If you like it, buy a copy of their album "Songs from the Heart". You won't be disappointed! And keep hoping that they release a new one soon!
Enough plugging... I hope you enjoy this piece whether you like the music or not. The pallette is somewhat rushed because I was just trying to find something new and exciting for myself to work with and still not spend so much time on it that I couldn't finish the piece itself. I took reference from the music videos online, but mostly from the video "The Time is Right".
Anywhoo... thanks a bunch for looking and keep improving! |
Thank you. I chose the funky colors trying to make it trippy and tie-dye-ish. That's just the aura that he gives off mixed with a little Alice Cooper-edness. . I really didn't think too much about it, but now I'm thinking I should try it out with something new.... hmm, I wonder... Oh well.
