From photo reference, the original image is here.

This started life as a NES piece, then halfway through I halved the resolution on a whim, liked it better and completely reworked it for the Pico-8 16 colour palette.  Sadly there's a couple of stray pixels left from the NES palette somewhere dragging the colour count up to 17 + transparency, but I'm not going to go through 256 frames of animation to hunt them down!

A really good use of the Pico-8 Palette and definition of the 3D forms. I'd highly, highly recommend the program Aseprite for creating Pixelart. It's great for animating in and a lot less pain than Photoshop!

Love the second one.

That photo to pixel conversion is so good! The photo looks so... normal/boring.. yet in pixel form it's so strong and bold! Did you see all the lines as soon as you saw the photo, or what motivated you to take this specific photo for a piece?

Photoshop isn't too bad to animate with once you get used to it. Lovely piece by the way, only thing I'd change would be to maybe not have the horizon line cut through that section of the church, I think it lines up too much with that section, I'd either have it go through it at about the midpoint of the tower or have it above it.

Something like this:

All animated in Photoshop, which I don't recommend!

What a lovely design! I really like how you've shown the separate times of day by switching colour palettes. What did you use to animate?
