Thank you very much. I agree the palette isn't that great. I made this when I didn't put much consideration into my palette because I am still learning. I just picked a color then a darker and lighter shade of that color. I know better now and put more thought into my palette. Though I am still learning which colors go well together.
Nice work! Makes me think of a children's book illustration. Lots of nice detail for the canvas size. The pallette isn't very exciting in itself, but the way you used it fits the tone of the piece. The background, though readable as tile, looks a little rushed. That could just be the pallette again though. All that being said, I really like this! I can't wait to see more of your art! 
It's all good! I'm having a difficult time keeping my palettes interesting myself. Color theory is something you could spend a lifetime on and still had more to learn. The key, I guess, is just not to get overwhelmed. When in doubt... go 1-bit.
