My guess is that whatever tool you're using has opacity below 100%. If you have your pallette and can recall where you painted, try going back over it at full opacity. Also please don't upload greater than 1x when you can help it. There is a zoom feature right here on the submission page. No need to force viewers to see it this way, but you can suggest the best view that you'd like it to be seen at. It keeps file sizes down when you upload at 1x. Let the patron decide how they like their art.
Withthat out of the way... Great job and wonderful concept! Keep up the great work and creativity. 
Nice image but 500 colours in an image this size is WAY too much for pixel art; try bringing it down. You can check the colour count with this tool.
