Eleven colors.. . I'm sorry, I tried using less . It's hard aaa. Anyways, here's Sam. Yes, I've cosplayed my own oc (badly) - now you know. Anyways, here's my mediocre attempt. I'm also trying to mess around with styles and find one that fits me. I still like how this turned out. Sorry if it's not the best :x But then again, I'm still learning!

I'm glad you found it useful!
If you haven't checked it out yet, I recommend giving the PJ forum a look. There's a WIP section, which is a good place to get some opinions if you feel you can do something better but can't quite figure out what/how.

If you click the "Reply" button when commenting, the person you're responding to will be notified. Otherwise, they don't get a notification.

Ah shoot, thanks for reminding me about transparency. My bad, haha;;

Wooh, that makes me feel better lol. I won't use too many colors though of course! :P

Aaa, oh jeez, seriously thank you for the critisim. That helps a lot, and I'll definitely take it to heart. The example helped me understand a lot better. I appreciate it a lot. Seriously, from the top and bottom of my heart and head, thank you!!

Transparency counts as a colour, so this is 11 colours, not 10.

There's no problem with using ten (or eleven) colours xP You should use as many colours as you need to achieve the look you want, unless you're specifically aiming for some sort of restriction.

The way you shaded things looks a little flat. When shading, think about the overall 3D form of the thing you're shading. A head is more or less a sphere or an egg with some bits sticking out, but you shaded it like one of those vinyl magnets, like a nearly flat object with slightly rounded edges. A big ol' egg, unless lit from the front, would have big chunks of it in shadow.

Here's an edit that adds a bit more volume. I also darkened your hat and skin shadow colours so that the shadows are easier to see, and put a little bit of red into your light greys because leaving them perfectly neutral felt a little dull even for a corpse-face.
