Still drawing achievement icons for an humble html5 game.

Full recruiting achievements line, from left to right:
"First of many"
"Squad"
"Platoon"
"Company"
"Regiment"
"Division"
"Power two"
"In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day"

I used soviet iconography: ear of wheat, red and gold. Stars were replaced by vinyl records because the game is about music industry.

I like the wheat, but I find that the image of the person only works one-at-a-time. In bulk, their shapes begin to blend and it becomes something of a mess. I really like the style, though!

If I might make a suggestion in addition to the mic/wheat one, perhaps replace the figure's helmet with headphones?

Looking forward to more! :D

maybe you should try simpler symbols

The microphone advice is really good and I think its shape is similar to the wheat's. I'll give it a try!

Basically, each sprite is 8 x 25 pixels, so the head is made with 6 pixels and the cap with 7 pixels. I wanted to keep that original design but I guess I would better do a "high res" version of the sprite.

Your commentaries always hit the nail on the head :)

Thanks a lot.

I recommend editing your previous one to add these. It's a bit redundant otherwise xP

The people don't read well. Are they even people? I think the fact that they're made out of big "fake pixels" really doesn't help with the readability, or the Soviet look. In Soviet propagande posters, the focus was often on strong shapes and planes, contrasting edges, not on making things look blocky.

Since the game's about the music industry, wouldn't microphones be a better fit than wheat? ;D I'm not sure how manageable it is to keep the "Soviet wheat" look at first glance with them reading as microphones only upon closer inspection, but perhaps it's worth trying!
