I understand getting caught under a workload or a deadline. Still, thanks for uploading these. It's helping me examine how I approach my work.
It's a very involved piece, so I can definitely imagine leaving some parts rough xP
I don't know what your workflow is like, but I find that with environments, it really helps to always use as large a brush as I can fit, and to only use the 1px brush only for details that can't be drawn with a larger brush. It saves time in blocking in shapes at the expense of some initial inexactness, and avoids a lot of the noise that tends to result from sketching things in with a small brush. It also means that even when the background is barely more than a sketch, it already looks relatively clean, just low in detail and missing polish like AA. This is a common method in digital painting, but applies just as well to pixel art.
I did have some rush on the background, and the huge workload made me lose patience in the final details. But I will continue to improve it in the future! I will continue to upload my previous works!
Although there are a few rough areas, overall you've made an amazing piece of work! That sky is gorgeous as well as "the War Queen" herself. The details do look a little rushed, but it could be the style you're going for. Still, don't forget that the point of pixel art compared to normal digital art is that the detail is at the pixel level. Smooth curves and color choices that fool the eye into mentally erasing the pixel grid. Your perspective is really good in my opinion, but some of the areas of canvas are making me think she's a giant and can't tell why. Perhaps it's the detail of certain forms and objects in the art when comparing back to foreground? It might be something to look into if you're looking to improve it. If you're moving on to other things, then I understand and I think you've done a wonderful job. I can't wait to see more from you!
The pixelling of the environment looks a bit rough and unfinished, lots of noise. I think it would really benefit from a few minutes spent cleaning it up.
Yes! I will not think of it as a pixel painting at the beginning of the painting until I finish all the ideas and use the rules of the pixel to handle the picture.
