I really like the atmosphere you've created with the palette!
Oh I see! You're right; there is definitely a subjective element here but I think it looks better. I changed my palette way too many times and too late during the process and my ramps are rubbish. I think at this stage I would almost need to re-work the whole image to fix it but a lesson has been learnt.
Thanks again for taking the time to demonstrate with an image!
I think the first frame is the best one, or at least the one you updated this post with.
I actually meant in a bit more of a combining-ramps sense, like this i.gyazo.com/af2565c6d3535359b91a8d2a2c9f6734.png. It's obviously a stylistic choice but I thought it might look neato (would be better with the same idea and your style applied though, to blend in moreso).
Great C&C, Knightsunder. I did a quick and dirty edit here. There are 3 frames - original, green light, and green light with a specular highlight on the cheeck. What do you think?
You've given me a lot to think about and improve on! What I think I'll do next time is post on the forum at an earlier stage in my next piece to get feedback before I start to get sick of what I'm drawing. Maybe sticking with a piece for longer is a skill in itself that I need to work on ...
The use of the brown ramp as the city lights is cool but I feel like the character himself could've benefitted from the additional green ramp on more than just his silhouette - that would take the piece from great to fantastic, though. Nice
EDIT: Like one of the green midtone as a cluster transition on the side of the head where the hair is thinner would've been nice, or maybe as an AA color on the nose for that harsh black to near white.
wow, very nice!!
Increible uses of the colours with so small palette
Blue and dark purple.
