Done as a gift for a sibling. It's Kirumi from Danganronpa V3!
Normally for big portraits, I draw a large version in Clip Studio, give it two gray tones, and then shrink it down to 10% and import it into Aseprite. I then reduce the colors to four tones (white, light gray, dark gray, and black), and then I add in color and clean it up massively. For this one, I came up with a general palette and colored the "big" version (here), then did the usual export process and reduced the colors down to 16. And then I did a loooot of clean-up. Here's a comparison between what I started with and the final result.
All in all, I probably wouldn't try this again, as it ended up being a huge pain to clean up, and I think it's a lot easier to work with four colors and then work my way up. I did learn some new stuff, though, like using the light green and pinks as intermediary colors for the antique white and violet. The one benefit from this process is that it shows me new ways to use colors that I wouldn't normally think to do. |
Nice smile.
